the world stops, my breath fumbles
i hold my breath.
suffocating
and yet i am breathing for the first time
air tastes so sweet.

i feel so fragile.  vulnerable.
every muscle alive.
everything is tense.
yet i have never felt so relaxed.  

everything in me is aware.
conscious.
deciphering.  but so confused.

my heart strengthens as it never has
beats against my ribcage
struggling to be released
to break my delicate bones.

we are so breakable.
we are so strong.
